Cotter Garden Design: From Portfolio to Lead-Generating Website

Carrickmines-Tiered-Garden-Cotter Garden Design Dublin

When Barry from Cotter Garden Design first got in touch, the brief was pretty simple.

He had the work. He had the experience. He had a strong reputation locally.

What he needed was a website that reflected that and made it easier for potential clients to find him and get in touch.

That’s what we set out to do.

Starting with Good Foundations

Some projects require a lot of digging to uncover what makes the business special.

This wasn’t one of them.

Barry already had a really strong portfolio of garden design projects, primarily across Dublin, with work extending into Wicklow and beyond. The quality of the projects was immediately obvious — well thought-out spaces, clean finishes, and gardens that photograph exceptionally well.

And that last part matters more than people think.

The quality of the photos made a huge difference here. Instead of trying to “sell” the service, we could simply showcase the work and let it speak for itself.

That always leads to a better result.

It’s also worth saying that Barry’s work has a very practical, well-considered feel to it. It’s not just about how a garden looks, but how it works for the people using it day to day. That comes across clearly when projects are presented properly.

Keeping the Website Clear and Straightforward

The approach was simple from the start.

No overcomplication. No fluff.

We built a clean, easy-to-use website that:

  • Puts the garden design projects front and centre
  • Clearly explains Barry’s services
  • Works well on mobile
  • Makes it easy for visitors to get in touch

A lot of people looking for garden design services are browsing on their phones, so making that experience smooth — particularly when it comes to contacting Barry — was a key priority.

We also structured the site around the services he offers and the areas he works in, particularly across Dublin and Wicklow, helping both visitors and search engines understand exactly what the business does. Making it easier for potential clients to find him when searching online was an important part of the project too.

The focus throughout was on building trust quickly — showing real work, keeping things clear, and avoiding anything that feels overdone.

Not Just a Website — A Lead Funnel

A website on its own is only part of the picture.

From the beginning, the goal was to generate genuine enquiries, not simply attract visitors.

Alongside the website build, we put a straightforward marketing system in place:

  • Google Ads targeting people actively searching for garden design and landscape design services
  • Meta Ads aimed at homeowners considering improvements to their outdoor spaces
  • A simple, easy-to-use contact form designed to encourage enquiries

Nothing overly complicated — just a practical setup designed to connect the right people with the right service.

Since launch, we’ve continued working with Barry on both Google Ads and Meta Ads, helping to keep a steady stream of enquiries coming through.

A Great Client to Work With

Barry was an excellent client throughout the project.

He communicated clearly, was open to suggestions, and always had the information and content needed to keep things moving.

That makes a real difference.

When a client brings strong work, great photography, and a clear vision to the table, it allows us to focus on building something that genuinely reflects the quality of their business.

The Result

The end result is a website that does exactly what it was designed to do.

It showcases Barry’s work professionally, helps potential clients understand his services, and makes it easy for people to get in touch.

Alongside enquiries generated through advertising, the website has also been attracting organic enquiries from people finding Cotter Garden Design through Google and getting in touch directly through the site. That’s always encouraging to see, as it shows the website is beginning to work hard in its own right.

Most importantly, the site has become a genuine business asset rather than simply an online brochure.

Final Thoughts

This project is a good example of something we often tell clients:

You don’t need a complicated website — you need the right website.

Barry already had a great business and an impressive portfolio of work.

Our job was to make sure that came across clearly online and to create a website that supports the continued growth of the business.

We’re genuinely proud of how this project turned out and, more importantly, pleased to see it continuing to support the growth of Barry’s business.

If you have a strong business but feel your website isn’t doing your work justice, we’d be happy to have a conversation about how we can help.
